James attended the University of Hertfordshire obtaining a 2:1 LLB (Hons) degree in Law. He joined Gard & Co in May 2015 as a Legal Assistant in Conveyancing, and worked in this position for the next 3 and a half years. During this time, he undertook the Legal Practice Course combined with a Masters in Law at the University of Law in Bristol on a part time basis.
During his training contract, James moved on to work in the Personal Injury and Litigation Department and the Commercial Department before returning to the Personal Injury Department. After qualifying, James will continue to work as solicitor in the Personal Injury as he is passionate about helping people through difficult circumstances and helping them to get the compensation they deserve.
Aside from his main role at Gard & Co. James is a regular mentor for current law students in the University of Plymouth. He was also a member of the firm’s charity committee helping to raise money for our charity of the year. This saw James take part in a charity leg wax and organising a sponsored ‘inflatable’ 5k run, amongst other challenges.
Outside of work, James, along with his wife, does a lot of work with his local church, leading youth clubs and camps. He is also a keen rugby player, playing for a local team, and has recently developed a passion for running.
