The Pilgrim Fathers lecture has become a celebrated annual event in the legal profession calendar, attracting current and past Lord Chancellors, Lord Justices of Appeal and Lords of Appeal.
The lecture commemorates the Pilgrim Fathers voyage to America in 1620 and traditionally embodied themes of freedom and human rights.
This year’s lecture was delivered by The Rt Hon Sir Brian Leveson on 27th October.
The Rt Hon Sir Brian Leveson became a Lord Justice of Appeal in 2006 and has acted as Senior Presiding Judge for England and Wales, Chairman-designate of the Sentencing Council and Chairman of the Criminal Justice Council. In July 2011, he was appointed to chair the Inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the Press and in October 2013 he was sworn in as President of the Queens Bench. Most recently, he has conducted a Review of Efficiency in Criminal Proceedings.
For the past few years the Pilgrim Fathers lecture has been a sell-out event so make sure to book your place early for 2017.
