Trainee Assistant Legal Accounts Executive

We are looking for a full-time trainee assistant legal cashier to join our small but busy accounts team.  This is a development opportunity, where the successful applicant will be fully trained to become an assistant legal cashier.

Although previous experience in accounts administration is not essential, applicants must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in accounts work. The successful applicant will have an eye for detail, the ability to recognise problems and achieve solutions, be well organised, have an aptitude for numbers and good mathematical skills.

Working as part of a small team the successful applicant will provide daily accounting services to all areas of the firm, including:

· Processing client and office account payments
· Cheque production
· Carrying out bank reconciliations
· Processing client and office account receipts
· TT/CHAPS via electronic banking
· Bank transfers
· Dealing with account queries
· Checking and posting bills

The successful applicant must:

· Have a keen eye for detail
· Be able to work as a member of the team
· Have an appetite to learn and grow with the business
· Be able to develop and apply their knowledge
· Field calls and take accurate messages treating all internal clients and other callers whether face to face or over the telephone in a polite, courteous and professional manner.
· Be able to work well under pressure with a high standard of accuracy and have a methodical and logical approach to work.
· Adhere to Solicitors Accounts Rules at all times

This position would suit a mathematics or accountancy graduate or accountancy technician, looking for a new career opportunity.

Locum Residential Property Lawyer

Gard & Co’s residential property team of 12, comprises 5 front-line, fee earning conveyancers and seven legal assistants. We are looking for someone to provide locum cover during fee earner annual leave of up to 20 weeks per annum, with a minimum guaranteed number of weeks to be agreed.

Our department is a close team of professionals. We want to establish a long-term relationship with a locum that shares our passion for providing a high quality conveyancing service. We do not pay for our work but rely upon on recommendations and returning clients. Providing an efficient, friendly and independent professional service is at the heart of our model.

We are seeking to engage a qualified and experienced residential property solicitor or legal executive who will make sure that property transactions are progressed whilst each fee earner is on annual leave.

We do not use dictation. Our lawyers are responsible for client contact and have overall care and conduct of cases whilst the administration is delegated to trained legal assistants, aided by an efficient and effective case management system.

Legal Assistant Vacancy

Gard & Co believe in investing in talented graduates who have decided to pursue a career in the solicitor’s branch of the legal profession, within the City of Plymouth and believe in training their staff to reach their full potential.

Every year Gard & Co seek to employ graduates as legal assistants, to provide production support to front line solicitors.

Financial support is available, for those who merit it, through post graduate examinations (ILEX/GDL/LPC) and a training contract (if appropriate), to legal professional qualification, subject to performance and suitable demonstration of industrious commitment, over a 24 month period.

The successful candidate will have a good academic record, a rounded skill set and plenty of real-life experiences of the workplace. We are open to considering those with non-law degrees as well as those with law degrees.

We are only interested in self-motivated and committed applicants.

Candidates must have a passion for the law and be able to demonstrate a settled intention of pursuing a career as a solicitor and the determination and capacity to undertake distance learning whilst, at the same time, maintaining and developing a full time job.
