Charlotte is a solicitor in the Family Department, which covers all aspects of private family law to include, divorce and finances, Children Act matters and TOLATA. She joined Gard & Co. in October 2020, gaining experience in the Residential Conveyancing Department before moving to the Family Department to qualify into Family Law which is her main area of interest.
Charlotte obtained a First Class Law Degree with Honours from the University of Plymouth in 2020 and, shortly after, began working at Gard & Co. as a Legal Assistant. Charlotte began assisting a fee earner in the Residential Conveyancing Department during the busy period of the Stamp Duty Land Tax deadlines. She did not let this phase her and quickly showed her competence, great initiative and willingness to learn.
Charlotte began studying the Legal Practice Course (LPC) as a master’s degree part time, alongside working at Gard & Co. in September 2022 and obtained a Masters of Law with Distinction in August 2024.
During the first year of the LPC Charlotte also took on the responsibility of becoming the Treasurer of the Plymouth Junior Lawyer’s Division where she worked with the Committee to help junior lawyers in the local area grow their network and learn the integral skills required to work in the legal industry.
During the second year of the LPC, Charlotte earned a training contract and completed her first seat in the Residential Conveyancing Department. In September 2024, Charlotte began her final seat in the Family Department before qualifying into Family Law in April 2025.
During her time at Gard & Co, Charlotte has sat on the firm’s Charity Committee, taking a lead role in organising charity fundraising events.
Charlotte was nominated for Plymouth Law Society’s Junior Lawyer Award in 2023 due to her dedication to the legal profession and her commitment to Gard & Co.
In 2024, Charlotte was selected as one of Devon’s 30 under 30. This is an honour awarded by the Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to 30 of Devon’s young business stars under the age of 30 each year. They must demonstrate their exceptional entrepreneurial abilities, be an inspiration to others and show significant potential to develop into a leader within their field of expertise.
In the summer of 2024, Charlotte was approached by The Plymouth Charter to get involved with their Young Voices initiative. Charlotte then became one of the 30 young voices of 2025 where she discussed her journey from deciding she wanted to become a family law solicitor at just 12 years old, to making it in her chosen field.
Charlotte strives to achieve the best outcome for her clients and is always understanding, approachable and professional.
Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going on long walks and shopping.
