Prices frozen amidst rising cost of living

Christmas is a time of great joy for most, although many people have reasons for sadness also. For most it is a time to wind down, relax and take a break from the treadmill.

But, of course, it comes at a cost, and everyone has less in their pocket in January. With inflation running high through 2023, it is likely that Christmas will be more of a drain on resources than usual. So, everyone is looking at making some savings.

Economically, the housing market has slowed and looks likely to remain subdued until inflation is firmly under control and interest rates start to fall. Many that do not need to move are holding on, waiting for better rates. But for some there is an underlying motivation to move that outweighs this.

Anyone that does need to move will need to look closely at the costs involved, one of which will be the cost of conveyancing. They should also consider that, with the interest rates offered by lenders potentially changing during the transaction, buyers may pull out or stall. This could cause chains to collapse, leaving them with no move but still with legal fees to pay.
